We Were Soldiers (Nick Glennie-Smith) Original Motion Picture Score

I loved the Movie when it first came out, but after my Father WWII Army Vet, Brother Vietnam Marine Vet. and my Husband Vietnam Navy Vet. all past in the last few yrs. They were all given Honor Guard Ceremonial's at their funerals.New York gave my dad a cassette player playing Tap's and the 2 Honor Guards, which were quite young, but it was my first and still touched me deeply. It was my Husbands that was the best. We were living in Florida and they really gave him an Honor. They were about 10 older gentlemen. They opened the doors to the church and they all gave him a 21 Gun Salute. At the end a tall 35ish Soldier walked straight to my husbands casket and saluted him, turned and walked out the same way. He didn't say a word and I don't think he was part of the honor guard. That stood with me. I had never seen a Real Soldier in Uniform except my brother at Paris Island, but I was so young and he was my big brother. Now I find myself wanting to see war movies to know what being a Soldier really means.

My favorites are
Private Ryan -The beginning was like someone ripped my heart out, I thought I die & my Dad was there.
Band of Brothers -Quitet Hero's -Capt. Winters and Sgt. Lipton (I thought Donnie Walberg was Superb)
Black Hawk Down, (Made me furious & want to kill the TV)
but my all time favorite is
"We Were Soldiers" (the whole movie from start to finish). I love it because for once they gave Honor to the Vietnam Veteran as a "Good Soldier" and no political views about the war. I recently bought the Original Motion Picture Score by Nick Glennie-Smith. I could listen to it over and over, it just gets to my soul like the movie. I think it's because Randall Wallace stuck as much as possible to the true story line. I just want say thank you for the wonderful collaboration "You All Did" on the movie and my goal is to make everyone take a second look and Yes (I Love Mel Gibson) and the *whole cast*. August 28,2010. God Bless, JoAnna
