Clemmensen's review hopefully will correct any impressions that Southall's lazy and uninformed review at Moviewave might make!

Lazy, perhaps, but it was informed by listening to the CD. How much more informed could it be?

By... watching the movie to see how the music fit in there? I didn't like Magneto's theme at first, as I thought it was a little too ballsy. However, after watching the movie and seeing how well it fit, I can't argue with it. Watching the movie to see how the music fits and then listening to the album edition does wonders.

The music's the music. I either think it's good or bad music. Watching the film may help inform why it's been written the way it has, but it doesn't change whether it's a good or bad CD.

Anyway, I've watched the film now and still think the music's absolutely terrible. The film deserved a proper film score.

The problem with Southall is that he doesn't do any journalistic research. He shoots from the hip and gives impressions that are misinformed. It's exactly like Clemmensen used to do. On the other hand though, Southall is extremely funny, so he is still worth reading.
