Christian Clemmensen's Guestbook

I love hearing from fans of Filmtracks.com, old friends, and distant relatives alike. You can hit the button below to enter your own contribution. Although this is an unmoderated forum of filth, I might edit out completely tasteless entries... just for the sake of good reading. Entries start from the most recent and work back in time. Thanks!

Note: All entries are manually approved before being posted. If you attempt to post business SPAM on this page (which morons attempt to do because they want to improve their search engine rankings), it will be removed before being posted!

   Here's the Beef:

Your site is offensive. You should be thankful that our Lord Jesus Christ offered His life for your sins and that the Holy Spirit gives us His power to overcome the sins in our lives.

God bless you and your family as Thanksgiving Day approaches.

Excellent, entertaining, and cannot be emulated. A+. This is starting to look like an eBay comment script. Anyways, I think you would be humorous in person. Maybe someday I'll meet you. A young man once said "BEAKTERS!". That same young man will singlehandedly dismantle the entity for which he works day in and day out. Au revoir.

I see that you're a hot hunk and you have a pretty wife, but that still doesn't give you the right to say such terrible things about Phantom of the Opera. It's called INTERPRETATION and ADAPTAION because it's SUPPOSED to be different from the play!! Instead of writing about musicals anymore, you should take that cute wife of yours and produce lots of babies that will someday have more open viewpoints!

Good Day,
I enjoy your web site and reviews immensely, however you have been strangely silent for quite some time now. I hope all is well and I thinnk I speak for a great many people in saying we need to hear from you on the recent film scores.

Have a nice day.

I've been reading your reviews for a few years now, and a part of what keeps me coming back is that you are always quite fair when writing about my favorite composer, James Horner...and as strange as it may sound- I'm grateful for that.
I look forward to your future comments about 'Legend Of Zorro', 'Flightplan', 'The Chumscrubber' and 'The New World'.

Great site. :)

Hello,

This is Dean Kuipers, a writer in Los Angeles. I write for the LA Times and for Los Angeles CityBeat. Do you make separate categories for action films? I was wondering what you thought the Top 10 action film scores would be. From any year. This is not for attribution, I am just working on some pieces about action movies and (like a lot of people) didn't pay much attention to the scores until recently. If I can find a way to use the list and give you credit for it in print, I certainly will.

thanks for any help!

Dear Christian Clemmensen,

Please, include a review or at least some information about Enio Morricone's work in the beautiful film "The Mission", of 1986. I think that It's the best BSO ever created in film history. It seems to be music from other world! Sadly, I've noticed that It's omited in a lot of american web sites about BSO's. I dont know why.

Congratulations for your site. I like it very much.

Ahh, how nice to find someone who hated the Phantom movie, and hates George W. Bush too... I've been a Phantom fan for many years, used to run an international Phantom fan club, and I've been deeply disappointed by how many Phantom fans are drooling over Gerard Butler and the new movie, without seeming to care what a travesty of the stage show and characters the whole thing is (not to mention insult to all the great stage cast members over the years). So thank you, thank you, thank you for writing such an intelligent, in-depth review. What a relief. The only area where I'd disagree with you is whether any other Phantoms have reached the heights Crawford reached - I think Peter Karrie, although very different, added more detail, and actually captured more levels of the character than Crawford did (though I admit I didn't see Crawford in person, and am judging this from bootlegs, and my husband seeing him twice). I've seen 18 actors in the role on stage and Karrie tops them all by far - and only 3 or 4 were worse than Butler.

I heard about you a lot too in high school, his love for you and your mother, and his story of how she started to have you when she was teaching has remained in my memory (and thats saying something, I have a really bad memory) and his influence to be political and say whats on your mind has stuck with me too. How do you choose what filmscores to review? Is it a matter of what promo
scores are sent to you? My favorite scores include, "Mission", "Best Years
of Our Lives", "Silverado", and "Antartica" by Vangelis. I don't think I
saw reviews for them. I think I'm now up to owning 35 scores.

Christian-
Hi...I was just looking through web sites, and I think I know your dad, Eric (Clem, as he was known by everyone:)) I was a freshman in his Inquiry and Expression class. I probably learned more there than I have in most other classes I've taken. I often think about him and wondering what he's been up to....as I am sure most people who knew him do! Dear Christian,

I am a graduate student from India

I am one of millions of fans of a little known musical genius from India, Maestro.Ilaiyaraaja (www.raajangahm. com). It gives me great pleasure and delight to share with you, information on Maestro. Ilayaraaja. Given below is a detailed description of this musical magician, who is largely unknown to the western audiences, thanks to poor marketing of his music.

Having been an ardent passionate listener of his music for the last 20
years, I (like several of other fans) strongly feel audiences in the west should also be able to indulge in the unique pleasure of listening to the creations of Maestro.Ilayaraaja.

We at RaajANGAHM (Raaja And Global Awareness of His Music)would be glad to gift you a set of CDs containing the best of Maestro. Ilaiyaraaja's works.

We are aware of the stellar reputation of the Filmtracks.com site. We request you to kindly give a review of his music for your website/online.

Awaiting your reply eagerly

Thanking you
Musically Yours

Well, Christian, I'll begin by saying this... personally, I imagine that you and I wouldn't have much in common on more serious issues, because 1, I'm a Christian, and 2, I'm generally a conservative when it comes to politics. But also have to admit that you have the best film score site on the web, period. I greatly respect and admire the work that you do here, it caused me to get a major nterest in film scores, and it's even inspired me to start my own radio show, on a local station down here. Me and a buddy of mine write a bunch of goofy comedy sketches that we perform, and also play a lot of film score "hits" as it were, it's quite fun. Thanks again for all you do here, and keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
Clark

I love your site. It's very insightful and oddly, strikingly original and attractive enough to come back for numerous visits. Do you write all your own reviews or do others assist you? As a younger (21) film tracks lover and writer (recently signed a contract with Spyglass Entertainment - hopefully a future film of mine will have its score reviewed on your site), I would be happy to write reviews or guest reviews for you and am asking for neither pay nor recognition. If I can be of assistance, please let me know. Thanks again for your invaluable service to the film industry. P.S. I feel sympathy for your dealing with Fox Film Corp. I have had altercations with them in the past and am firmly convinced that outside of their films they are the worst company in Hollywood.

Hi dude...

Congratulations man, I am very happy for ya, glad to hear you got married... Also glad to see how you look, I was wondering how you look, after all I have been visiting your site for quite a few years now and now I finally see you... You two look great together. And your site is very cool, so is the one you made for you and your stella... Is she half greek? It may be a dumb question, I visit Greece quite a bit and she does look like one... They do look good, if I may say so my self...

Anyway, like what you have been doing online these past few years and just wanted to let you know what there are people out there who think you are doing a very good job... Take care and have a great winter!!!

Keep safe...

Hello Christian! I've been lookimg *everywhere* for the soundtrack of Perfume (2001) and it looks like there isn't one? I want to find the beautiful opera-type songs with a woman singing on CD but am having no luck. Lush is credited with most of the songs on the DVD but from listening to their music online, I can't find anything remotely resembling these songs. Any idea what the songs are, who is singing them or where I can find them?

Thanks,
Sandy : )

First of all, I LOVE your site, I come here at least once a week. Second, I was reading over all the stupid emails you've gotten (I don't think I've laughed that hard in awhile) and I just was wondering if all these people hate your page so much or whatever, then why do they keep coming back? It's not as if they're forced to come here or anything. People can be so stupid sometimes.

I finally noticed your 8/11 missive and explored other pages in your site, for the first time. Like this one. Congratulations and I hope to get a review update soon!

Hey, just wanted to say that I've been going to your site for about a year now and have pretty much enjoyed it all. Most ppl I know aren't into soundtracks so its nice to hear someone talk about them who enjoys them so much. Have you heard the score to the Mel Gibson film that came out this past March? "We Were Soldiers" written by Nick Glennie-Smith. I know he's prolly not one of your favorite composers, but I think he made up for his "The Rock" score with this one. :-) If you've heard it are you planning to write a review?? Or if you havn't, well, do so, cause it rocks. :-) (Of course I only heard it in the movie so don't listen to me) ;-) -Chris

Heya,

I read the flames you keep up, and though I love the remarks you make on those, mean, hateful, and absolutely ignorant messages; I have one thing to say to those people.

If you don't like his work. Don't go to Filmtracks... you stupid losers.. *see look, you are stupid.. AND losers.. thats like.. a double whammy and stuff.* And for all you, hurt, angry, stupid ass Christians, who think his work is singularly to torment, and stuff like that.. (i feign know of the weird shit churning round in your brainwashed heads, I don't go there, and frankly scares me to think you are still breeding, friggen Christians) He doesn't care enough about you to actually do something TO SPITE you.

It is one persons oppinion, and frankly that is what it means to be an american. Freedom to publically say whatever the hell you want, without cry-babies bitching about you're wrong, and recieving death-threats and shit. Get over it.

The world does not revolve around Christianity, or you, or me, or Christian Clemmensen; it... *sigh* you know.. I'm tired of this.

Christian, you rock. You have a wonderful site, and though I like some movies and stuff that you don't I take it in stride. Because it is what you believe, and you are free to believe in what you want. And all you losers flaming him.

Sit and spin.

Love, peace, and carbonated beverages,

Dear Mr.Clemmensen,
You probably remember writing to me a few weeks ago informing me that I was a broadband thief! Well, my webmistress, Sandra LaMarche, has now been in touch with you and has solved the problem, a problem I might add, that I was totally unaware of.
That said, she also directed me to your filmtrack site and I was very impressed with the conents thereof, especially as they related to a review of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", in which I was proud to participate as the voice of Frollo. However, your reviewer has painted such a Cinderella portrait of the fate of this fine movie, that I felt I ought to write and inform you that he should update his thinking from 1996. It is true that there was controversy when it was released, but then there nearly always is when a project is bold and unexpected, especially when it's a Disney product. The fact, nevertheless, remains that the feature finally yielded a staggering $350 million worldwide as of 4 years ago, which represents the seventh highest box office receipt ever reaped by a Disney animated feature. Don't you think that should be inserted into your website, lest people run away with the idea that this was a lost cause. The release of the DVD 2 weeks ago also shows much promise, since many people who decided to stay away initially have by now heard the word that it is one of the finest ever produced and are buying a copy.
I wish you continued success with your remarkable achievement.
Sincerely, Tony Jay.

This is curently the best site to visit regarding soundtracks. Of course I don't always agree with your reviews but usually they are a real help in order to make buying decision. Hi

I'm a student in the rainy city of Leeds, in England and I'm writing a dissertation on movie soundtracks, I've written about the theory and the concept behind how some think a soundtrack. I've also written about Bernard Herrmann and his work during his life, and I need a modern composer to write about, but I can't seem to find any info on modern film score composers,

I would be really gratefull if anyone had any suggestions on who to include, I need someone whos work is rather famous and interesting.

Please Please Help me and e-mail me your suggestions.
Thanks a lot,

Your tribute to Danny Elfman is interesting but incorrect concerning Oscar nominations. In 1997, he was nominated for two Academy Awards-one for "Men in Black" and one for "Good Will Hunting". Great site!

I enjoy reading your reviews, and find the track listings, samples, and research you must put into writing your reviews quite useful. I am a film composer myself, and find myself commonly in agreeance with most of your film reviews.

Here's something I'd really like to see: Classic film scores, especially Sergei Eisenstein films scored by Sergei Prokofiev, and the works of William Walton. It's humbling to look back at some of the marvellous original scores from the first half of the 20th Century, when talkies where relatively new.

Anyhow, just thought I'd do my part and sign your book and congratulate you. Please keep the reviews a coming!

Cheers,

Hi Christian,

I love your site. It is my favourite - no q's asked.
I was reading your recent review of "The Mummy Returns" and there is an error - so I thought you might like to fix it. In this sentance : "Because of this basic approach of scoring each battle or chase with a rhythmically and thematically more diverse score, Silvestri's music is ultimately superior to that Goldsmith's" - their should be an 'of' between that and Goldsmith's at the end there.

No probs,
David.

P.S. I'll check back and see if you've fixed it :) (Only Kidding)(But am I?)

Modesty is one of the most beautiful things a person can have.

It is hard to look around at all those people who think they have to show themselves off in order to have attention.I don't understand why people sometimes think that they need to express themselves in that manner.

Personally, I think it is revolting and degrading. Immodest dress stimulates perverted thoughts and can lead to potentially criminal acts including rape and violence. Other outcomes of these thoughts can even be fatal.

Some criminals who have committed hard-core crimes have one thing in common. They were addicted at some point prior to their misconduct to pornography. What a hideous result to something the world sees as OK more and more each day.

I know of some families who have been destroyed because of the addictions of one to porn.

To those who are struggling in this area, I urge you to seek help. Don't destroy that which you hold so dear and precious. Don't allow yourselves to become so full of addiction that you end up in jail. It is not worth it.

Being with those you love and who love you is worth it. Pornography cannot and never will bring joy into your life. Only pain and guilt will be felt. I protest the expressionistic views of the media in this regard.

Without pornography, I believe we will have safer and more loving communities. The world would be a much better place.

Though I have been a reqular since June of 2000, this is the first time that I have visited this page. You have a fantastic site and I check in more than once a day. Because of this site my love and interest for filmscores has been rekindled and I've been able to get many scores that I thought were unavailable. Your site is also incredibly user friendly. Keep up the good work. By the way, I saw that you got your MA in Speech Comm. Though I didn't, I did minor in it in college in Samford University in B'ham. Filmtracks it great, it's my internet home, the site design is great, you're a very weird but likeable guy, yada, yada, yada. Enough small talk, we have something serious to discuss. Why is it that we are not using ultra-intelligent orangatang monkeys as the wait staff at restaurants? I recently saw a discovery channel documentary about these remarkable primates, and has no one thought of how many advantages there would be if we did this? I don't want orangatangs being cooks mind you, no, that would give them far too much power in society, but the wait staff...now that's what I would call a great society!

Think about it...I shall contact you in 47 days when the sun is in alignment with something else in space...

Thanks Christian. Thanks for loving this music at least as much as I love it, and for doing so much for it. Film Music (I prefer to say "Contemporary Classical Music" or Sublime Music) is for me the most beautiful music in the world, so beautiful that I sometimes wonder if it really belongs to the world. Listening to Legends Of The Fall, drinking a glass of good Champagne and reading the reviews of Film Tracks...La vie est belle ! Bonne continuation Christian.

I just read your article "Soundtracks...Is it a Guy Thing?" and I have wonder whats up with you people of America. I don't know how well you did your research or how many people it was that you surveyed but I know a hell of a lot of women who are fanatics when it comes to Film music. I myself am a university music student in the field of composition and I plan to work in the film industry one day writing for the screen. Your article kinda pissed me off because you gave the impression that women are incapaple of becoming excited over film scores unless it is in the context of a romantic movie. That is so crap. You are making the kind of stereo-type that will make it very hard for women to get into the business and be given the same respect and opportunites as men. With every person out there that has the same ideas about this as you, it will be that much harder for me to get a break. Next time maybe thorough research and a more considerate attitude would actually do something constructive for women in the industry.

Dear Sir,

I am writing to you from the Thavorn Beach Village resort in Phuket, Thailand. We have just recently acquired the chinese junk that was used for the filming of 'Cutthroat Isalnd' and we are looking for information on the boats history i.e. where it was built , how old it is and what it used to be used for. Do you have any information that we could use or do you know anybody who might have this information?

Thank you very much for your help.

Thanks to you i could know more and more about my favorites composers, and i could link with Craig Spaulding my favorite soundtrack source. Your web site is the best i've ever seen about scores, i liked the sentence that was before and starting saying "there are soundtracks..." that is essencially.

Strangely enough I agree with almost all of your opinions on your personal page, and if you hadn't ripped on ERIC SERRA's last release I'd Almost feel sorry for you. Plus the fact of those scuzzy pictures of yourself on your page (I bet you carry them around in your wallet) makes me believe you thrive on the mere attention you get from your crappy web page. Hello Christian, how are you doing..?

My name is Gert, I live in Belgium and I am trying to make a thesis (??) for my studies for librarian. This thesis is about filmmusic and I am therefor searching interesting and high quality filmmusic-CD's with a preference for original filmscores rather than song-soundtracks...
I happened to read your website and I see that you give a certain rating for each CD (from one to five stars).
My question: are you involved with filmmusic professionally or is it just a hobby...? I would like to know this because I have to find above all some reliable "sources" as far as the ratings are concerned..., and someone who is professionally involved with filmmusic is supposed to be more reliable than someone who is just a filmmusic-fan or lover...
Can you inform me, please...?
Thanks a lot!

Gert

Dear Christian!
First of all: Congratulations to your various pages! As director and actor I'm also interested in soundtracks and composers. By surfing on the net I've found the James-Horner-section. It's very informative and user-friendly. By the way - after researching for "Jumanji" - OST, I recognized something funny: all tracks have been composed by Mr. Horner himself, but the net offers me two artists, called Tom & Domino Blue who declare themselves as composer and performer of the main title theme from "Jumanji".
I've bought the record, listend to it closely... but couldn't found a composition that belongs to them or Mr. Horners soundtrack. My question: would you be so nice - if it´s possible - to do a little bit of research? (helpfull link: www.domino-blue.com ... use tom blue link for further detailed info)... `cause the reason of contacting you is a simple question: is it true, that those two artists did the title-song of "Jumanji" - and knows Mr. Horner all about this? Please - handle this info confidental, and if you get actual results, write to my e-mail-adress.
Greetings from Vienna
Werner W.

Hi Christian. I've been visiting Filmtracks for quite a while now, and I'm continuously impressed by it. I think I’ve viewed your personal info once before, but I guess I didn’t have time to sign your guest book…sorry about that. I remember sending you an email once, but can’t for the life of me remember what I asked (you didn’t reply to me anyway, so oh well). I just wanted to say that I completely agree with your views on religion. Most people are too brainwashed to even be able to accept anyone else’s views on the subject, so I suppose that’s why it can be such a hot topic (well, in the bible belt anyway). There are probably a few hundred other things I could say here, but I won’t. So I’ll just leave it with “Wonderful work, Christian”.

Why is it, that no one cares about the factors that shift the balance of power- Why have invasive plants taken over?

I believe that it is the very bees themselves that have caused this ecological catastrophy in out bioregion. You see, the honey bees are non-native, and they effectly pollinate non-native weeds, while they cannot effectively pollinate natives. Yet they drive the natives away. It is the whole white man hurts the brown men thing done over again on a very small scale.

I hope you are ready for that whenever you do meet the great God that created you. Hi, enjoyed your site more than several I've had to endure recently. Actually, I enjoyed it a lot more than the previous sentence seems to indicate. I am on a quest and have spent long hours at the computer searching and E-mailing anyone who might have the information. When I lived in Portland, I had a part-time radio show with a friend. One Thursday, he showed me an extremely cool CD. It was cuts from the Star Wars Trilogy spliced and looped and so on to make songs. One that stands out in my mind was a dialogue between Luke and Vader. "You're not my father!f" "I'm your father." There was another one based on the TIE fighter scream. Anyway, the next day we got to the studio and someone had swiped the CD. To compound my stupidity, I don't know the name or who composed it. It was done around 1992-96 and was with permission of 20th Century Fox (I remember that but can't recall the title!) If you or anyone else reading this blathering has any information or more ideas where I could look, I'd appreciate it. I'm beginning to think someone spiked our water jug. Anyway, throw me an e-mail one way or the other. Thanks for listening and keep up the strange work.
Cheers!

Fantastic sight! BUT. . .your review of Batman Returns was most unsettling. I agree with the problems you sighted, yet it has to be said that the movie requires those elements. A gothic score = heavy organs, catwoman = screechy strings, and the lullaby was needed for the umbrella scene during the film. I don't mind if you disliked the score, but credit must be given to Elfman! In the context of the movie, the VERY LITERAL use of scoring worked well. Granted, that when listening to it alone, it can become annoying (ESPECIALLY THE CLOWN MUSIC!). Yet why not include a "music as heard in the movie" rating like some of your other reviews? Perhaps an update is needed? Oh well, I babble too much - I'll cut it short. I just hope you realize that Batman Returns is a score that is more the victim of Tim Burton's bizzare vision, and not Elfman's scoring. Hope you continue the great work, it's a great site! Whenever I need some good film music info and reviews, I'll turn to your web page.

I too have vision problems--I've not been diagnosed with anything by an opthamalagist but last time I got a new prescription for glasses the doctor notice a freckle sized point in my retina of my left eye. He said just come back for frequent check-ups. From my own research I believe its retinitis pigmentosis as I have night blindness. I 30 years old and I face blindness too. We might both be sitting around by our cd player listening to Jerry Goldsmith or James Horner compositions while be attended by our wives. I would suggest you do get married. I'm comforted by the fact I have a wonderful caring soulmate who would walk on fire for me. You need someone to understand your situation and be there for you. On a happier note, I love your site. Gotta thank Christian for the excellent site and for being a matchmaker! As it turns out, I was one of the 1st to try out his bold experiment, the ScoreBoard. And so I ask "Where can I get a copy of Farewell To The King?". If you are a Poledouris fan (I am, big time), then you will understand that this score is the Holy Grail for Basil heads. Except for Cherry 2000 that is. By the way, doesn't that sound like the name of a porno movie? I rented it. It's not. Anyway, I got a quick reply from Christian with a URL to an auction and even a guideline price. Well, not only am I now in possesion of this magnificent score (and legal too!), but Christian happens to have come within five bucks of the final deal. Not bad for a website operator. So, where can I get a copy of Cherry 2000? You know, I've noticed that everytime I think I've just about got my soundtrack shopping spree about done, I'm right back at it again. What an abundance of riches though! Thanks for being so instrumental (pun intended) in my quest for excellent music. Cheers, Greg

Dear Chris!
First of all: Thank you for your wonderful webpage! Before I visited you website I didn't even know that I'm also addicted to soundtracks( okay I do not own as many as you do but 62 is a good start don't you agree? I completly agree with your revies concerning Disney(I'm truly in loeve with my Mulan soundtrack but Hercules, gosh that was awful! Back to Titanic is absoltely worthless except for the track "The portrait"(I also play piano and now I'm searching for the sheet music from Titanic). I actually bought a lot of CD's after reading your reviews(Batman, Crimson Tide,Willow, Dragonheart, Apollo 13, Braveheart and Mulan). i would really love to get in contact with you to exchane some point of views concerning soundtracks. Hope to hear from you.

I wrote to you with a question, some months ago. Alas no reply. However I now see from you personal bio that it could be because I have the name of Jon. (Let me assure you I haven't seen any of your ex-girlfriends pr played any part of thier leaving you.) So If you can bring yourself to send a reply despite my wicked name I would appreciate it. The question from so long ago was about the Star Wars special edition disc. I was wondering why the music cue for the scene between Han Solo and Jabba the Hut is not in the soundtrack(Although the liner notes profess that it is).

And a thought about GPA's... Doesn't cumulative (in mathematics) mean to add? Wouldn't 4 years of High School with a 1.0 GPA translate to a 4.0 GPA? :)

Alright, let me get some stuff off my chest. First of all, just because you don't believe in Jesus, you don't have to make fun of His name every time you get the chance. Second: you like James Horner... I don't. Third: Why haven't you reviewed Conan the Barbarian yet??? Fourth: how come everytime I send you mail, I dont get a reply? Fifth: you only have one Vangelis score reviewed... that in itself is very unwise. Sixth: Almost everytime I try to get to your site I get that limit.html page that says the site is closed down due to the 500 MB rule or something... That annoys me. Seventh: You gave Titanic 5 stars. Eighth: Despite all of these flaws, I waste more time at your site than anywhere else on the web. Keep up the great and awful work, man!!!

I visit Filmtracks several times a week. Your doing a wonderful job. Keep up the good work! I use your opinions a lot when I plan on purchasing a soundtrack. The most recent being "Cutthroat Island." I bought that CD and I love it. I also heard it being used for the Detroit Fireworks on TV. I couldn't believe it! That was awesome. Well, good luck and I hope you continue to do Filmtracks for a long time.

I think this site is wonderful. I am a huge soundtrack collector. I have over 200 and I'm just 18 years old. I have a question for you though. There are two soundtracks that I would do absolutley anything for The Adventures of Baron Munchasen by Michael Kamen and the Great Train Robbery by Jerry Goldsmith. If you have any time at all I would really appreciate any suggestions that you might have on where to find these.

How do you choose what filmscores to review? Is it a matter of what promo
scores are sent to you? My favorite scores include, "Mission", "Best Years
of Our Lives", "Silverado", and "Antartica" by Vangelis. I don't think I
saw reviews for them. I think I'm now up to owning 35 scores.

Paul Kinney <paul.kinney@sdrc.com>

Wow. All I can say is that Filmtracks is hands down the best film-score site I've yet to have found. Though I can't say I agree with all of your reviews, I for one really enjoyed the gospel spin that Disney took with Hercules, Many of them are quite accurate. And for those people who disagree with you, all I can say is that your a critic for God's sakes, and its your opinion (those messages on the Faux Pas page are classic!) Your site has also opened me up to scores I porbably never would have considered (Cutthroat Island for one), while heeding me to steer clear of others (Mars Attacks! I love Elfman, and loved the opening theme to the film, butafter watching the film again and listening to the score, I realized you were correct.)
Overall grat page!
P.S. What's your take on William's Superman score. I'd love to see a review.

Although you may still be living in a world of fairies, leprechauns, eskimos and other fantasy creatures, some of us have grown up and are able to appreciate more kinds of music than just so called adult contemporary. Yo, Christian!

I visit your site just about every day and I gotta say it's great! You have excellent info on scores. I must admit I normally don't listen to critics but I find that 75% of the time you have the same view on a score as me. You've recommended a lot of great scores-I am definately getting Cutthroat Island-it sounds GREAT! I'm waiting for a review of Superman and Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story if you want suggestions for new score reviews. As you can see, I'm in the 1% of female score fans-that article surprised because most guys I know don't listen to anything that's not by heavy metal or rock bands. Send me an e-mail if you get the chance!
P.S. Your recommended JW site as mysteriously disappeared off the net-do you know what's up with that? I'm so upset because JW is my ABSOLUTE favourite composer ever!

I just discovered Filmtracks while researching plans my brother and I have for arranging a High School marching band show of Hans Zimmer. WOW! I thought I was in a very small group of nuts because I've listened to scores for years as background music while I read. Now I find out I'm in a large group of nuts!! I will definitely use this page to look up scores of interest to me as possible purchases.

Also: on your 'Scores for the Consumer' article. In Morgantown we have a store called The Den that sells new CD's for $11.99. College students have notoriously low budgets so a local big university town may also have such a store/ head shop. Just a tip.

To all you Filmtracks buffs,
Regarding the current Theme of the Month: something to the effect of, "why is this only a guy thing; don't women have a clue?" I must say, I've never noticed an overwhelming disproportion between men and women at the soundtrack box in the local record shop. What I have noticed is that there are all too few people unaware of filmtracks, period. Not that I dislike the thought of being involved in something highly esoteric, but it certainly is nice to encounter people whose experiencial (in this case, musical) reality may be somewhat similar to my own. I find myself only gradually learning to accept the conclusion: face it, other people just don't make sense.

By the way, if you haven't noticed by the name already..I am female. And just to let you know, my favorite soundtrack is is Conan the Barbarian.

Hey, I've just dropped in from filmtracks. It's so cool. I have collected film scores for a long time, but I thought that there were very few of us nutcases out there. When looking in my CD case, my dissapointed friends almost always wail, "This is just orchestra stuff. Don't you have any "real" music?" Hmmm.. I beg to differ. Anyhow thanks much for being a part of such a cool site. By the way, I read some article about most film score enthusiasts being male and I had to laugh. Film music almost always makes me cry or at least moves me greatly. As a woman, I thought men weren't as interested in being moved or especially in crying. Anyway, the stats were interesting.

How ironic, isn't it, that the Internet - the invention touted to unify all Mankind under a banner of world peace - has instead managed, at the pinnacle of its power, to bring together the Land that Time Forgot (Montana) and The Continent on the Edge of the World (Australia). Hmmm. There's a lesson to be learned in that. Anyway, just wanted to add a little spice to your guestbook seems like most of the comments are of the home-grown USA variety. In any case, my line's open to anybody who wants a semi-vicious discussion on philosophy, religion, movies, music or any other esoteric tastes I might have forgotten to mention. Ciao!

I love your website and I admire the devotion you have to it. You maintain it well, except for the "What I'm up to" and "Quote of the Week" sections. You and I both know these sections are far from ever being updated. They should be retired to the land of no return. I suggest you make up a new section - of more news worthy material "Only Known to Happen of this Planet". This could include news articles about large breasted women giving men concusions and/or Santa Claus burning up in an airplane crash in front of 500 children. This I believe is what your loyal viewers (like myself) want to read. I'll love you even if you reject my suggestion. :)
