  Final phase of re-writes done

Finally, after five years and the consternation of many Filmtracks readers, the third and last phase of revisions to older reviews has been completed. A total of 941 reviews were completely re-written or significantly altered from 2004 to 2009. The ultimate breakdown is as such:

    • Older Rewrites: 88 Albums (done mostly in 2004)
    • Phase I Rewrites: 188 Albums (3/9/05 - 7/29/06)
    • Phase II Rewrites: 490 Albums (7/30/06 - 10/1/08)
            Major Revisions: 87 (7/30/06 - 4/22/07)
            Moderate Revisions: 303 (5/6/07 - 7/20/08)
            Minor Revisions: 100 (7/21/08 - 10/1/08)
    • Phase III Rewrites: 175 Albums (10/4/08 - 3/8/09)

So what's next? I have another roughly 110 reviews written in 2003 and 2004 to proofread and make minor adjustments to. About 25 such proofreads have already been done, and they typically add from 50 to 80 words to the content of each review. These can be done at a rate of six or seven a day, so that process might be finished by the end of this month (or mid-April at the latest). A few reviews will require the addition of expanded albums that have been recently issued for those titles.

In April I'll begin work on Filmtracks' major restructuring and redesign, changing the hierarchy and major design aspects of the site for the first time since 2000. While this project is underway, the notification of re-writes in the On Cue section of the site will continue.

I extend my thanks to all of Filmtracks' readership for tolerating this long process of bringing all of the site's reviews up to current standards. After the remainder of the proofreading is done, it'll be great to look forward rather than backward.

Christian
