New Filmtracks layouts and software debut

Better late than never! Fundamental changes in Filmtracks' underlying software and a modernization of the site's layouts is nearing completion. The site has not seen this kind of total revision since 2003, and although the major areas of the site now exist in the new 2009 format, there will remain a few sections that will be switched over during the course of the next few days (including all of the forums).

Among the most major structural changes are the format of the composer tributes and ratings/review indeces, all of which feature a wealth of new, automated information. Some of these features have transferred to the reviews as well, including the "bias check" at the end of reviews of scores written by major composers.

There will undoubtedly be errors in the rendering of the site during that time; if these problems persist, please contact the site or post about it at the Scoreboard. Within a week, all of the remaining upgrades scheduled for this switch should be completed. Please familiarize yourself with the following sections before contacting the site:

Another update will be issued once the switch is totally completed. Then, an accelerated schedule of reviews will be the long-awaited next phase of this site's lifetime. Everyone, including me, is eager to start coverage of a wide variety of albums once again now that the re-write and re-design precesses are finished.

Thanks again to all of those who have assisted in proofing, optimizing, and supporting the testing process of this new layout and software over the past two months.

At a time when online film music coverage has been becoming more sparse, it's great to commit Filmtracks to several years of continued development.

Christian
