Why? Why do we collect expensive soundtracks on CD? Could it be
some bio-chemical imbalance of the brain? Could it be a demoniac urge to
accumulate pretty little spinning silver and gold discs that happen to be
rare? Is it status? Addiction? Obsession? When placing CDs in
perspective, it's a little frightening to realize that people are paying
enough money for some scores that could otherwise pay for a quality
surround sound stereo, microwave oven, or lawnmower... or, in some cases,
50 other CDs.
But we do it anyway! So this month, Filmtracks tackles some of the rarest
soundtrack CDs and provides you with some background and reviews of those
releases. The decision to purchase a $200 CD can be a tough one (well, at
least for those of us who don't fit into that upper 2% of society that's
run off with all the money), so below you will find links to reviews,
background and availability info, track listings, and a few hidden audio
clips of collectible CDs.
