Hollywood '95 (Joel McNeely conducting)

Hollywood '95: (Joel McNeely) This CD is a collection of themes from successful 1995 movies. McNeely, the student of John Williams, conducts the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (complete with large chorus). Included are James Horner's Apollo 13 (the launch sequence --no sound effects), Braveheart (End Titles --with authentic instruments), Casper (the beautiful lullaby). The main focus of the CD is on Elliot Goldenthal's Batman Forever, and it is my opinion that these 5 tracks are far superior to the soundtrack originals. Rounding out the CD are Jerry Goldsmith's First Knight and trailer music for Judge Dredd, James Newton Howard's Waterworld, and Alan Sylvestri's Judge Dredd. There's also a special tribute to Miklos Rozsa, with a performance of the love theme from That Hamilton Woman. ****
