Alice in Wonderland's score is great and overall fun and original... for the first 10 minutes of the score. Elfman creates his fantasy-style melody with sweet strings and a beautiful choir, like in Edward Scissorhands. He adds suspense with booming brass and deep harmony. The soundtrack is truly beautiful, but it is repetitive like Elfman tends to be. Sure he created a magnificent melody, but he shoves it in your face multiple times by taking his first song, "Alice's Theme" and shoving it into almost every song. Then, if that isn't enough, Mr.Elfman will toss in five reprises of Alice's theme which is the theme split into chunks. The score is as repetitive as Danny Elfman's Flubber score.
All do respect to Mr.Elfman, the score is catchy, wonderfully orchestrated, and overall fantastic. But it makes me want to leave Wonderland, and never come back.
