This review is the striking exception to the overwhelming majority on this site. Alien might just be Goldsmith's most maverick, influential score. Besides the Romantic parts, much of this score set the standard for sci fi and horror to follow, despite Jerry's getting butt-boffed by Scott in the end (wait, that was unintentionally hilarious, have to take a break).

Perhaps the reviewer needs a calm environment, a not-too-comfortable chair, and a pair of Sennheisers to really hear all the subtleties and brilliance to this score.

Though Alien the movie is a top fifteen for me, the score itself is a top five for me (and Goldsmith's finest imo). I just can't let this review stay as it is without encouraging the review to give at least one more, careful listen.
