Maybe some of you know the story of the first performance of Igor Stravinsky's ballet "Le Sacre Du Printemps" in Paris, 1913. After few minutes, there were shouts and boos from the audience. The percussive exclamations and the ferocious discords, this revolutionary music upset parts of the audience. One of the critics later complained about "Sacre" consisting merely of "Crash, clash, cling, clang, Bing, Bang, Bing". Quite ignorant, of course.

Nevertheless - as a matter of fact, yet it maybe is difficult to appreciate for some audiences, "Le Sacre Du Printemps" is one of the most defining, influential and extraordinary pieces of music of the 20th century.

Elliot Goldenthal's Alien³ score, among others, is equally important to film music. It's revolutionary, sophisticated, intelligent, breathtaking music. It's a bomb! And it takes some openness to appreciate, of course! Obviously, critics never change.

Ignore them.
