Howard would have done better alone.

Man, would I like to hear James Newton Howard on this score ALONE. Subtle (and smart) uses of synths, nice string sections, a choir that emphasizes the dark nature (like Howard used in 'Snow Falling on Cedars' "Tawara"). Although I liked Zimmer when I was a younger kid, becoming 21 has altered my expectations and views. Howard is top, Zimmer is slowly decreasing boarding to the cliché, even to boredom . I would rather have Harry Gregson-Williams as a co-composer scoring Batman than Zimmer if Nolan really wants to hire a Media Venture composer.

Of course it's only a humble opinion.
