I know that this soundtrack may be viewed as a letdown after Elfman's previous masterpieces, but I am here to bring some good out of it for you.

First of all, if you compare the films, you will find that the first two are extremely dark, and almost manic and strange. The new film, Batman Begins, plays out more like a dark action film, it is very serious, and the tone is different. If you took an old Elfman score, and stuck it on this film, it wouldn't work. The result of the film is a very well written and dark score with excellent emotion, and violent moments.
