Yes, the music did need to take a new direction, but I think that Zimmers direction couldn't be more wrong for this film. The direction is merely Howards minimalism with Zimmer recycling material that he's been cutting and pasting into films for over a decade. If he could have given himself the kind of departure from his norm that he showed in Tears of the Sun, I believe that this would have been a truly great score to witness. Of course, I'm not suggesting that we have an African tribal ritual song pop up in the middle of Bruce's Parents being shot, but you know what I mean. Zimmer almost redefined himself with that sound track and I find it very unfortunate that he did not continue in a redefining direction rather than merely retreat back into his comfort zone. He truly could be great and it is dissapointing, to me, to see somebody who could do great things just doing the same stuff over and over.

Hopefully, one day, he will take that leap into greatness. But, for now, he's just Hans.

Hope I didn't offend.

Happy listening
