Not Really That Bad

Whenever I read a review on this score, it's always a terrible one. I can't understand why. Except for "Chase Blanc" and "Nygma Variations" it's quite good. The main theme, in my opinion, may sound similar to Elfman's Batman theme but this wasn't due to plagarism (C'mon, this isn't Horner we're talking about). It was due to the fact that Goldenthal knew what Batman fans had come to expect in a main theme and gave it to them.
Another thing that's never taken into account is the fact that Batman Forever is more of an action/comedy than the first Batman and that's why so many of the cues are so "weird" (although, I call them goofy). At least they fit the movie, which is more than I can say for Elfman's score to the first film. What's up with the way he used a waltz for the battle in the belltower? I know that the Joker and Vikki are dancing at the time but that does NOT justify using a waltz for an action sequence. However, one of the most entertaining tracks on Goldenthal's album contains a waltz and is shunned for it. I can't understand why. At least in that scene, Nygma was acting like a wannabe lady's man with Dr.Meredian, trying to impress her with his dancing; it makes sense.
All in all, I think that people need to realize that Batman Forever isn't a score to a straight action movie but to an action/comedy and that is reflected in the score. So for anyone who has an open mind and wants a unique listen that will give them a wild and funny ride , I reccomend Batman Forever.
*** of ***** stars. Not the best but DEFINITELY not the worst.
