I loved Stu Phillips awesome score for the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica and thought this new "minimalist" style of scoring by Richard Gibbs would be an utter let down. I was wrong! This truly is a fine score. Both the ethnic vocal tracks and the drum driven action cues work well on album. I did'nt find them jarring at all. It took a couple of listens before I got hooked however as it's far from operatic. But now I just love it. There are great themes that truly move me. In fact I would say this is one of the best scores to come out in quite a while. Gibbs and company have done very well!
