Honestly the miniseries music is fantastic, and Bear Mcreary worked on it as a sound editor I'm pretty sure, not positive about that but he did indeed work on it in some capacity in a smaller auxilary role. It set the identity very much for the entire series in many ways. Gibbs even recommended McCreary get the job for the full series.

As good as the rest of the series is music wise, personally I thought Bear McCreary was inexperienced and baptized by fire alittle bit, and didn't come into his own until season 3. Until then while interesting it wasn't too unique yet and very much still owed a lot to Gibbs, Especially Season 1. Not bagging him he was afterall straight onto the scene. He did a tremendous job coming onto such large project and developing so quickly.
