I have to agree...the new series is full of emotional and emotive scenes, and this is masterfully reflected by Gibbs' music. It's a moving story, made even moreso by the new score. I loved BSG when it came out (when I was 17!), but we live in a much different world now. All that shiny, disco-era space opera B.S.? In Ron Moore's universe, the human race is nearly extinct. That calls for a minimalistic, tense, melancholy score.

This new series, and the music, seems far more real to me than the original.

If you're looking for fanfare, go buy an Aaron Copland CD. You'll get your triumphant, feel-good trumpet lines. If you're looking for something more serious, moving and realistic, try this one.
