| Now Playing: BSG S4 CD1 - 12 - Gaeta's Lament (Instrumental)

The Battlestar Galactica soundtrack review here is for the two hour pilot episode only. I think its pretty dang good considering its not for an entire season... just two hours.
That said, its a crime, a straight up crime, that this site hasn't reviewed the four later season soundtracks, composed by Bear McCreary instead of Gibbs. They are all far far better than the Pilot episode soundtrack can hope to be. By favorite tracks being Prelude To War from Season Two and Storming New Caprica from Season Three.
Whoever reviews TV show soundtracks: Review just those two songs and be prepared to be awed into using the overnight shipping option at Amazon, buying the rest of the Battlestar OST CDs. It will happen.

I couldn't agree more.
The soundtracks by Bear McCreary are a big step up from this pilot soundtrack, and has one of the best scores I've heard for a television series.
Please review at least season 1, 2 & 3, these soundtracks are marvelous.
I would love to get a filmtracks-review from these.

Honestly the miniseries music is fantastic, and Bear Mcreary worked on it as a sound editor I'm pretty sure, not positive about that but he did indeed work on it in some capacity in a smaller auxilary role. It set the identity very much for the entire series in many ways. Gibbs even recommended McCreary get the job for the full series.
As good as the rest of the series is music wise, personally I thought Bear McCreary was inexperienced and baptized by fire alittle bit, and didn't come into his own until season 3. Until then while interesting it wasn't too unique yet and very much still owed a lot to Gibbs, Especially Season 1. Not bagging him he was afterall straight onto the scene. He did a tremendous job coming onto such large project and developing so quickly.

Christian has been saying for a while that the BSG reviews are coming, and with the mini-series album review now up, I suspect the season reviews are probably not far behind. It's worth noting that Filmtracks generally keeps a pretty laser-like focus on mainstream movie score reviews, and rarely ventures into reviewing TV scores. The fact that the BSG scores are getting coverage at all is a testament to their impact.
