The only Zimmer score I really like - I own it on LP bought at the time of the film's release - because every subsequent one seems to be copying it in one way or another. It is frustrating to have so much of the film music missing from it, but it really stuck with me after seeing Black Rain and remains possibly his best work for me.

Black Rain is also one of my favorite scores. One of the few times where both the film and the score holds a special place in my heart. I get goosebumps every single time I pop in the Blu-Ray and crank up the sound and hear the descending synths as Black Rain appears on the Red Sun, and it fades into a much softer version of I'll Be Holding On. I've tried for ages to get hold of that cue in a clean version but nobody seems to care or know. In addition, the movie version of Nick and Masa seems somewhat different to the album version(s). Got the original album, and I got the bootleg, but I can't help but feel like there's just some really good stuff missing.
