Considering Santaolalla had NO visual content whatsoever to go on when writing this score, I'd say he deserves at least a nomination.

FYI, Ang Lee wanted the score to be written before filming, to use it as an inspiration FOR filming.

He deserves a nomination because he had no visuals to go on? Sounds like a good reason to get nominated..haha. Poor JW hope he doesn't get robbed again this time.

King Kong and Kingdon of heaven were far better scores than Brokeback Mountain.
