I once was totally with you on the issue of Harry Potter. I must now disagree. I was a christian for 38 years and now I realize that there is no evil power or holy power. There is only the power within yourself and people have been taught that believing in yourself is a sin because your supposed to lean on god. The churches get richer from our contributions and the government keeps on gaining more and more control over our lives because we are taught that we have to do what we are told by god and the law as long as the two don't conflict. People worry so much about what people will think of them and about pleasing god that they forget that life is precious and needs to be lived. Harry Potter is fiction and also a very fun story. The bible is also fiction but it is filled with mass murders and false promises of a better world. The difference is that the bible claims to be true and scares people into believing that they will burn in hell if they don't believe in it. Harry Potter is just a movie that promises good entainment and is meant to be FICTION! As a once christian, I understand why the christian community is against Harry Potter, but I must say that since I discovered the truth about the bible and christianity, I feel much relief to be free of all the quilt about so many things that now I enjoy. In looking back, I feel that I am a better person today than I have ever been. I am less judgemental and much happier in general. I also have a new love of life that I have never experienced before. I love all the Harry Potter movies that I once refused to watch and I see no reason not to let my children watch them. Don't Disney movies also have magic in them? Why is noone here trying to abolish those movies?
