Incredible score!   Saturday, April 19, 2003 (3:16 a.m.)

I had never heard of Brian Tyler before, but I picked up this CD as soon as I heard the music in the trailers for the epic min series "Children of Dune".
And indeed, it was more than worth the money I spent on it!
Brian Tyler is definitly a rising star in the world of film music. "Children of Dune" is, in fact, by far the most enjoyable musical journey through Frank Herbert's universe that exists today.
It has both sweeping themes, massive orchestral cues, as well as beautiful ethnic and vocal passages á la "Gladiator".
All in all, this is a fantastic score that should be given more attention.
It will defintly be on my "Best of 2003" list when the year is over.

/Johannes

Re: Incredible score! - ARE YOU JOKING?   Saturday, May 24, 2003 (4:15 a.m.)

No, it is not! definitely! Tyler knows how to steal from everywhere around him, but it doesn´t make him a Composer! He could be very good as a member of Media Ventures....
For his future I can only hope, he won´t continue stealing...
If I want heard something much more interesting I can listen to Gladiator, Stargate, Platoon or Dragonheart not portions of them here...
Perhaps one of the dissapointments of the year not highlight

Well, if Brian Tyler does steal from other composers, then he takes their work and makes it better. Bottom line: I have NEVER seen a composer rise so fast with excellent work in almost every consecutive release. Most composers have a couple good ones and then a bad one, but Tyler seems to almost hit it with every score...Not a bad beginning.

I just ordered this CD today, and I have heard many parts of the score previously, and I do not hear any other score in it...maybe you need to fine tune your ears...
