lyrics to Inama Nushif   Tuesday, April 1, 2003 (2:52 p.m.)

Are there are there any other obsessed persons out there who are trying to find the lyrics and translation to this song from the montage. Or am I just an idiot who doesn't know which websites to visit?

I've assembled the approximate word 'sounds' except for the refrain, where the voice is competing with the vocals.

I'm not quite obsessed enough to go through Herbert's books looking for the Fremen translation. I was sort of hoping it would be in he CD notes - silly me. Of course, if I'm unemployed much longer I may have time to do it!

Inama Nushif

"Though we deem the captive dead, yet does she live.
For her seed is my seed and her voice is my voice.
And she sees unto the farthest reaches of possibility.
Yea, unto the vale of the unknowable does she see because of me.
Let it be deemed the captive lives, for the seed is our seed.
He sees far off in the possibilities and remains calm over memories of grief.
Let it be thought of the captive, precious of my seed,
The desert weeps for the profound grief of the prevented voices.

In The Original Fremen:
Inama Nushif

'Inama nushif, al-asiri ayi
Lianni zeratha zerati.

al ir huda alman albaid
aya libarri adam alam.

Inama nushif al asiridar
inufis zeratha zerati.

Kali bakka tishufa wahad
al'ir huda amon a gawlih.'

a gawlih, a

Inama nushif, al-asiri ayi
Lianni zeratha zerati.

Excerpt of a longer passage

This is a quote found in the book Dune (page 456) from which the well-known song Inama Nushif (from the mini-series Children of Dune) is based. This is the original passage in Fremen and English and then follows the lyrics to the song.

'Innama nushif al-asir
mayyit u hiy ayish.

liana zaratha zarati.
u gawtha gawli.

u tishuf hatt al-hudud
alman albaid.

aywa adam al malum
tishuf liani.

"Though we deem the captive dead, yet does she live.
For her seed is my seed and her voice is my voice.
And she sees unto the farthest reaches of possibility.
Yea, unto the vale of the unknowable does she see because of me."

Re: The Official Lyrics by Brian Tyler!!!   Tuesday, May 4, 2004 (2:08 p.m.)

I was really glad when I found these official lyrics, because what the Landsraad had posted originally didn't make sense to me.

But where the heck is he getting all this Fremen? There isn't enough of the language in the books for him to do this, is there? Someone point me to something more than the glossary at the back of the first book, because I'm not finding half these words in the glossary or the text at large. Right now, I tend to think he's borrowing from somewhere else.

Ah, well. At least I can sing along.
