Let settle this now.
I agree with Erica, Children of Dune is by no means a rip off of Gladiator.
Gladiator did have some Frank Herbert influences in some scenes such as the Zuchabarr settings involving the slave trade. Ridley Scott almost directed the first Dune film but was forced to leave the project due to a family emergency. The duduk instrument has been used countless times in different films(The Crow, Ronin, etc.) What Brian has written here is excellent, a breath of fresh air. At least he nows how to do musical storytelling which is something a lot of young modern composers don't know how to do, and I think that could spell doom for the film music industry.
