Personally, I would've given a minimum of four stars for the score. For the most part, I like to consider it good brooding music. True, it doesn't have a strong, constant theme, but the ethnicity evident is nothing short of fantastic. It's not my favorite, but I think it's very good, and I think the review may have undersold it as a quality score.
