Elfman's employment and usage of his main themes (in particular Tess's Theme) is among his most colorful works to date, and his assimilation of the jazz and big band-era harmonic language is quite laudable. Also, Dick tracy recieved excellent reviews from many of the nation's top critics and publications. And every elfman fan i know (and i know several) loves this score, including myself.

Yeah, I never read a bad review of the film. I was surprised to see that even Ebert himself gave it 4 stars. I liked it and the score. Not as good as Batman, Edwards Scissorhands, but still a very interesting score to listen to.
