There is a chant in this movie which has been causing me great confusion. The chant comes when the Mahdi's, having taken over the British fort and Heath and Hounsou just came inside the compound the the gates are closed. They were chanting a song I know from my growing up. A song I thought originated in the 80s which then contradicts why soldiers in a movie based on colonial era will be singing it. I want to the know the origins of that song. The song is called Zangalewa by Golden Sounds. A group originaly from Cameroon. If anyone knows anything about this song, please contact me.
