Watched Glory again last night for the umpteenth time.

I never grow tired of this movie and its magnificent soundtrack.

It is the most wonderfully uplifting piece of film music.

The melding of music and action in the climactic charge on Fort Wagner reaches feels like a symphony in its own right.

James Horner has never bettered Glory, and I doubt he ever will.

Everything since has been referential of Glory.

He seems to repeat himself over and over again, and in recent years has been guilty of self parody.

They're all there...the horn flourishes and chorale touches.

Even John Williams has in more recent years varied his schtick somewhat.

However, all is pretty much forgiven due to Glory.

I've loved good film music for what seems like most of my 38-years on this planet and the Glory soundtrack is the greatest of them all..

An astonishingly beautiful work by a composer at the height of his creative powers.

As other writers have said ...Glory DOES work best in the context of watching the film...it just rocks!.

My second favourite soundtrack is ET.

John Williams' masterwork...better than the movie as far as I'm concerned.

The soundtrack kind of lives in its own world.

The album closing Adventure on Earth..all 15 minutes of it...is just sublime.
