Actually, the opera seen in Florence was composed especially for the film by a Patrick Cassidy. It was never seen before the movie was released, but that's not to say it won't ever be performed again. I would assume that Mr. Cassidy would compose a full opera to go along with it if he ever wanted to do something like that, as a 4 minute song isn't what most would consider the average length of an opera.
