I guess I'm Compromising...

I guess I'm kind of compromising, but I think while the Harry Potter score shared many similarities with Hook, it had its own theme and enough variations to be unique. Let's face it: Harry Potter and Hook are about the same type of movie, (same genre at least) so it makes sense that their soundtracks would have a similar sound. I would at least expect an original theme, but I think John Williams did that. After reading the book, there were a number of things in the movie that were not at the quality I think they should have been, and the score was one thing that could have been a bit better. Overall, I wouldn't call it outstanding, but very good. Not monumental (like LOTR), but fit the story well.
