I agree - but where can I find the CD?

I agree that Danny Elfman would've been a prime candidate for the composing of a haunted mansion flick with style a la Tim Burton. Not sure what Disney was thinking, but all that aside...

Where can I get promo CDs? Is there a particular store (I checked FilmTracks' links already) that sells rarities? I'm also looking for The Family Man promo CD but nobody seems to have it. Must I really go through the pain of becoming worthy enough to be an Oscar voter before I can get my paws on these CDs?

Well, I'm afraid you can't just buy it. This academy promo of the score recently has been auctioned at E-Bay for no less then 99,- dollar! (talking about huge figures for scores, the Brother Bear promo score was sold last month over there for around the 700,- dollar!!)

However, I downloaded the suite as well as the overture (Overture is different then the suite, it's editing is different, is a bit of a compilation of the suite) yesterday on FileTopia (where you can also find Elfman's Family Man promo btw). The program is downloadable at www.filetopia.com. You need to go there to the channel MovieMusic.

I love this score by the way. Ok, Danny Elfman would've been great as well, but Mancina manages to create a similair style and mood (and I suppose he's less expensive as Elfman ;-)), combined with James Horners style of Casper. And ok, some parts of the suite aren't as original sounding as it's Main Title, but indeed the middle, when it starts to get emotional....wow!
