• Now Playing: Hobbit Extended Edition

Very good and informative review, especially the parts linking to the themes. It might be good to state whether you mean the extended or standard versions of the cues. I hadn't known about re-recordings but I did notice discrepancies when I watched the film after having listened to the soundtrack dozens of times. The Radagast theme irritated me the first couple of times but I've come to like it so its exclusion saddened me in the film and I got very annoyed at the Nazgul music. The guy I went to the cinema with, however, didn't notice this at all. It does seem to take a real fan of the music to notice and care. Let's hope the extended edition fixes these musical missteps and we then get a real complete recordings. With the extended edition and no Oscar nomination (why not?) I'm a little worried. Definitely looking forward to the next two soundtracks though and maybe then this one will become a favourite almost as much as the Lord of the Rings scores.
