What about the contributions from Torme, Drifters, etc?

As far as holiday classics are concerned, John Williams not only capsulates the spirit of christmas in his versions of "carol of the bells" (of which I cannont find a better version), "O Holy Night" and his own "Star of Bethlehem," but the additions of "White Christmas," the 1957 Drifters hit and Mel Torme's rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Chrismas" rounds out the soundtrack quite nicely.

On a side note, does anyone know when Torme recorded this selection? I think a knowledge of the history of a piece of music adds to its appreciation.
