Before I heard this one, Pocahontas was my favorite Menken score. But hearing Hunchback just blew my mind. It's a much more mature score than his previous efforts and the magnificent choral parts add a majestic quality seldomly heard in a Disney score. The only downfall is that Quasimodo's singing voice isn't up there with that of Aladdin, for instance and the songs aren't quite as show-stopping (although some are still quite haunting). But the beauty of orchestral underscore more than makes up for this. Thump way up!
