I have the old album but soon I will by the Decca album.

On the old album: various sound quality but what a nice rerecording of the score.

John Williams, you're the man..........

How can you not like Jaws...this is right up there with ET and Star Wars. It is Williams at his best. BUT THIS SCORE.

I didn't say that - I like Jaws but the fact is that the sound quality on the original MCA-album is some what a failer due to todays' sound-standart.

======================================

I agree! As great a film as Jaws is, it is even greater because of the score. The main theme is so exciting, I have a 60-second sample on my hard drive, I listen to it every day. I just cannot imagine the film being so effective without the relentless pounding of that main theme! Terrifying, beautiful, evocative, it is perfect! I'd say equal in importance to the sunrise theme used in 2001: A Space Odyssey (Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra).
