You're right. Both themes are exactly identical (Raptor and Close Encounters), with the following exceptions: Close Encounters uses five notes in this order A, B, G, G (8vb), D. And raptor uses these notes (from the shakuhachi in prologue) E, F, C#, G. Close Encounters is within a major key and raptor theme is more based on the symmetric-diminished scale. Close encounters starts most often on the beat while raptor theme tends to start (in a 4/4 measure) on beat two. In fact, most intelligent people would disagree with your logic, citing the krypton theme instead (track 2 on superman soundtrack) as having more in common with close encounters theme. In fact they have the SAME GODDAMN NOTES! I wish I could disagree with the two of you, but it seems you've both obviously studied Jurassic and Encounters in microscopic detail!!!
