Perhaps you might want to actually listen to the Horner score. Its surprisingly good. The Conti score was iconic, but 25 years later is not standing the test of time very well with its simplistic orchestrations and use of synths. The Horner score is a very warm and rich effort with lots of tender moments of solo piano. Sure, its familiar sounding in places but retains it own identity throughout unlike Avatar and does what its supposed to do. Its a wonderful listen, even after 2 or 3 times.
