Synth? Is the reviewer drunk?   Sunday, December 16, 2001 (6:04 p.m.)

Are you drunk? If we're talking about full scores here, both peices did contain synthisized music, but were not based on such. American Beauty's soundtrack relied on percussion. the vibes in the beginning, or "dead already" or, the pulsing, yet sensual rhythm of the ride cymbal during his (kevin spacey's) teen fantasies. Or the light, abstract piano lightly backed by strings during the plastic bag scene. yea, the strings are synth, but the piano isn't - as i recall piano is percussion, yes? So, if you're going to slam the american beauty score - and i mean FULL score - then at least learn something about music. And why not compare the k-pax score to the American Beauty score? I've compared them, only because i find them both very good peices of music.

This has got to be the Worst review i've ever read.

Thank you very much - bye

Re: Minimalistic as well? I think not!   Monday, April 19, 2004 (5:14 p.m.)

I agree wholeheartedly with this one. I loved this score so much I bought it right after watching the movie. I've listened to it dosens of times and feel the music implies depth, which obviously the reviewer lacks. Minimalistic does not equal lack of creativity or boring! Shearmur's music creates a feeling of haunting reality that let's the listener relate to with ease. Don't let the review fool you that he know's what he is talking about!

Piano is not percussion. Piano is strings.   Wednesday, April 28, 2004 (4:43 a.m.)

My Subject Header explains my reason of replying to this message. Piano is not percussion maybe you should rethink your views of music a little more. Piano is a stringed instrument open the piano and tell me what you see. you don't beat on a piano so it is not a percussion instrument. this doesn't mean im agreeing with whatever your disagreeing with just simply explaining that piano is not percussion. Thank You.

Re: Piano is not percussion. Piano is strings.   Tuesday, June 1, 2004 (2:32 p.m.)

I hate to rain on your parade, but the pianoforte is in fact classed as a percussion instrument due to the fact that sound is produced by the action of a hammer hitting a tuned string. Maybe you should brush up on your own music theory, sir, before making such statements.

Good evening.
