Although I'm very "anti-Horner", I think there is actually a valid reason for his selection. That part in the movie when they are luring sharptooth in a trap MIRRORS the characters in Peter and the Wolf. Little foot is peter (who comes up with the plan), Spike is the cat, Ducky is the duck, Petrie is the bird, and T-Rex is the wolf.
There are technical differences; the bird/Petrie is the one that is suppose to lure T-Rex into the water (not Duckie). As for Sarah, I guess they left out Sarah because she was not present during the planning of the operation.
As for the October Cantata rip (the track is called Victory), I can't justify any artistic reason for choosing that...
