----A FEW FACTS----
Name:
Vestard J. Shimkus
Born:
August 21st, 1984, Latvia
Present Location:
Los Angeles, CA, USA
Occupation:
A young pianist and composer
Achievements:
Winner of several International Piano Competitions and one Composers Competition
Why I like filmmusic:
It contains the essentially best things of all the genres of music in quite an illustrative and hyper-impressively emotional "sauce"
Hobbies:
swimming, running, eating
Languages I'm able to speak in:
English, Russian, Latvian. I've also studied German for SEVEN years but everything I know is "keine Ahnung" and that's it.
Compoer I Adore:
James Horner
Three Composers I'm Totally Obsessed With:
James Newton Howard
Hans Zimmer
Elliot Goldenthal
Other Composers I Love Very Very Much:
Alan Silvestri
Howard Shore
John Debney
Klaus Badelt
John Frizzell
John Powell
Randy Edelman
Craig Armstrong
Trevor Jones
Harry Gregson-Williams
My Five Most Favorite Scores:
The Lord of the Rings (Shore)
Gladiator (Zimmer)
Final Fantasy: Spirits Within (Goldenthal)
Braveheart (Horner)
The Four Feathers (Horner)
Composer because of whom I became such a filmmusic maniac:
Hans Zimmer
Composer I hate:
John Williams.
Because I deem his music is, IMHO, too entertainingly idle. It's beautifully illustrative but it leaves me cold, somehow. I, of course, appreciate what he has composed but I've never ENJOYED his music.
Other Composers I don't like:
Ennio Morricone
Joel McNeely
Mark Mancina
Elmer Bernstein
Rachel Portman
My Five Most Favorite Films:
Braveheart
Gladiator
Romeo + Juliet
The Sixth Sense
Legends of the Fall
My Most Favorite Director:
M.Night Shyamalan
My Five Most Favorite Classical Composers:
Peter Tchaikovsky
Dmitri Shostakovich
Sergei Rachmaninov
Maurice Ravel
Ralph Vaughan Williams
----MY COLLECTION OF SCORES----

I started to listen to it and collect the filmscore CDs only a couple of years ago). There're much more scores I've HEARD. And there're also a plenty of scores I don't really own but they're owned by some of my friends, so, it's still possible to get from me some CD-R copies of all the scores listed below, if somebody's interested in a trade.
