I have seen a lot of posts saying that Annie Lennox's "Into the West" was horrible. You say that her voice "grinds on the higher registers".
Well, those who can sing, tell me. Because there is a famous saying. Those who can, do. Those who can't criticize. And you do. The lot of you.
If you think you could have done better, and got an Oscar nomination for this particular song, let me know, because I'd LOVE to see who could.
If you could write this song, and the whole score, I'd love to meet you, but unfortunately, there is no one here who could have produced the score, the film or sung any of the songs as well as the people who did just that.
If you're so good, why weren't you asked to do it?
I honestly feel sorry for you. That you can't appreciate good music when you hear it. I'm not old, by any means, I'm 14, and I listen to the charts, and everything, but I don't think you all have the right to criticize her, and her work. Had you heard of her before she did this song?! I know I had. I heard of her before I was 10. I'm well-educated in music, past and present, and I just think that if you knew a little about Annie Lennox's career, how popular she still is, and just how unique her voice is, then you'd truly appreciate her music, her style.
There's another thing. Everyone has their own style. Who are you all to say that his is crap?! I mean, the unmade bed in the Tate Modern is worth millions! I wouldn't pay that sort of money for it, but someone would. That's the point. Everyone likes different things, and if its worth that much to someone else, you can say that you don't like it, by all means, but don't say that its rubbish, because to most people, it isn't.
I may be strange, and a bit weird, but know what I'm talking about... unlike a lot of you. *shakes head in despair* I only wish you could see it from other people's points of view... because that's what you need to do. Think next time before you post something really nasty. Think- could I have done that? Could I have done that to that standard? Would I have the guts to do that? I I got the chance to do that, would I? In a million lifetimes, could I ever do that? If the answer to any of those is no, then shut the hell up.
You think it's rubbish... well, there's no accounting for taste.
