I just picked up the score today while looking for copies of The Missing and The Last Samurai...i didn't find those but did notice that ROTK was there so naturally i picked it up.
I'm only on track 7 right now but have to say that so far the score is excellent. I agree with portions of Christian's reveiew and disagree with others but for the main part...excellent score.
I was one of the skeptical people who were furious with the idea of Shore scoring these films but i withdrew all my negative comments the first time i heard Shores' score to the Fellowship of the Ring. And then again i was surprized with TTT's...and then again here in the conclusion.
I am very pleased with the music, while i would have enjoyed hearing some of the older themes played out in full force again here in ROTK, honestly it doesn't matter though, if i really want to hear those themes then i'll go throw on the other cd's. Here is a new score with 90% new music. I didn't pay to hear music that i already owned.
I could not rate this score any less then four stars. Excellent.
