I don't understand the legal stuff between Fox and Filmtracks

Huh? I don't understand why anyone would make such a fuss over some short and poor quality audio files. I read in magazines that record companies are trying to stop mp3 files from spreading around the 'net, but real audio files are different. Who cares about them? Why would Fox pay their lawyers to go after Filmtracks over stupid real audio files??
Something doesn't make sense here. Maybe Fox has too much time on their hands? Maybe it was a personal vandetta against the Filmtracks operator.
