I really don't get what's all the fuzz about! As a score it's not bad to listen too. But it lacks everything that it is supposed to be and doesn't fit the thematical ideas AT all!!! I mean, using synth percussion a la mediaventures ISN't suitable for a christian drama if you ask me. Debney should have done his homework as for stylistic body of the score and authenticity of the mood, just like yared did for his rejected score to troy ! pitty Debney didn't realised that!
Furthermore, The score doesn't have strong themes nor does it has an overal vision! I think other filmmusic such as 'the mission' or ' band of brothers' is far more spiritual then anything debney can ever come up with! I never felt involved when listening to this score. The instrumentation is clear, the choir has it's moments but it never brings you in the spiritual awe that was SO needed for this film. The difference between good and great is exactly why Debney will never reach the level of a great filmcomposer such as Williams, Morricone, Zimmer...
