There also comes the simple fact that it's not good performing. I agree that the movie was trying to get a different feel, and I can excuse Christine's breathiness as an attempt to create a softer, more intimate appeal to her character.

I also appreciate Gerard Butler's more raw take on the Phantom. However, the fact remains that every time I watch the movie, I positively dread 'The Music of the Night' and usually skip through it. It simply does not sound pleasing.

However, his performance in 'Point of No Return' is decidedly delicious in several spots. Color me confused.
