Without Hans Zimmer, this movie's score

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Hans Zimmer is one of the greatest composers alive. In fact I don't think he would even agree that he is one of the best; I'm sure he realizes that he isn't in the same league as John Williams or Howard Shore. But I do think that the reviewer was rather harsh with his POTC review. Even though the soundtrack is highly simplistic and lacks much musical depth, it is still very catchy shallow music that can be enjoyable if you realize what the movie was meant for. When discussing movies like POTC you have to go into a different mindset and forget Oscar contenders. For what the movie was worth, I think that this score did a suitable job.
