WOW... Somebody Hates Zimmer   Wednesday, June 6, 2007 (2:17 p.m.)

Pardon my straightforwardness, but this score does not deserve this kind of treatment. I'd like to see the reviewer compose something half as wonderful... not going to happen. I think wonderful and sought after composers like Zimmer deserve SO much more resepct then they are given.

Anyone think so?

1. Anytime anyone says, "I'd like to see the reviewer copmose something half as wonderful," they immediately lose all credibility. Ummm...okay, Christian is a...REVIEWER. It is not his job to compose scores. Frankly, I doubt any of us could compose the way Zimmer or any other film composer does, save maybe for my main man Gustavo. Zimmer's job, however, is to compose, and him falling back to his old rhythms does deserve some criticism...not as much as is being given out on this site, but just a little.

2. You didn't even mention the merits of the score...and there are many. Come on, make a real post!

3. Christian, if you do decide to take up his challenge...we're rooting for you

Right on Tuba, we outta get a Tuba-Euph duet goin

The "reviewer can't compose" comment to me is the exact same thing as calling out someone's spelling mistakes in an argument. Could Roger Ebert direct a successful movie? Can Tiger Woods hit a homerun?

And why do these people always take the criticism against ZIMMER as personal attacks against THEM?

I don't like spinach, but you don't see people leaping to cut my throat over that, so why should people leap to the defense of Hans Zimmer? He's gonna make more craptacular music no matter what fans or critics think.

Or as personal attacks against Zimmer. Good question. Probably because the criticisms are so constant (I wonder why...).
