Re:review   Friday, August 29, 2008 (10:14 p.m.)

A very nice review - I have an objection on just one point: "Director Andrew Adamson remains loyal to the general plot of the original story, meaning that there are naturally more battle sequences and less of the outward religious allegory."

A lot of intelligent stuff has been said at the biggest Lewis fan site "Into the Wardrobe" on their Narnia forum. In brief, this one statement is self-contradictory - if Adamson HAD remained loyal to the plot, then there would have been fewer battle sequences and more of the theme of returning to faith after a major (and lengthy - 1300 years) falling away and things like skepticism. Adamson largely invented the battle scenes, which Lewis describes scarcely or not at all, and so battles dominate the film where they did not dominate the book - indeed, people who have seen only the film might well be excused for wondering what's the big deal about a bunch of kids being in these battles.

That was my only complaint. Otherwise, nice reviewing!
