Hi guys. I live in Poland, we have here our polish soundtrack reviews site (www.soundtrack.pl). As far as I remember there have been a war between fans of John Williams and James Horner. I like both so for me it isn't a big deal.
I'm trying to imagine why there is so much hate in your comments about reviewer. Though it is only his opinion and I think he is right about many aspects of Harry Potter's scores.
First I'd like to say that I really enjoy all three scores but I remember the year when I got first Harry Potter soundtrack, it was the same year of A.I. by Williams. A.I. was very emotional and very hard listening experience (quite interesting at all)and after that I looked forward something more light, pleasent. I found there in Harry Potter a few quite enjoyable themes but nothing really super extra. I remember my feelings when I listen previous scores of John Wiiliams and unfortunately I can't find the same emotions, sensations when I listen HP soundtracks. This music has its moments, its wounderful cues but it is also quite heavy and dark. I don't say it is wrong but there are many horror underscore moments which are not too nice for my ears. In my opinion it is very good that every new score has something new to offer but if we take these a few new themes (as presented in Mischief Managed) we get only typical for Williams underscore which we could hear in his many previous soundtracks (Indiana Jones trilogy especially). I regret but I can't find the same passion so for me it's only 4stars(****) score.

Sorry for my language mistakes and grammar errors . I hope my comment was enough clear.
