Graeme Revell Rules... |

I bought The Saint by Revell sometime ago but was appalled to see my favorite parts of the score were missing. I know there´s no money for recording, but this is electronica, people! All they have to do is burn the songs from a synth into a CD!
Anyways, if a buy a score soon it will be Red Planet. I´m really annoyed though about the lack of quality found in recent scores in general. Reviews on this site should be harder on compositors, many of which are stupid idiots for producing the crap they do.
I´m sure many score fans could come up with better stuff than some of these people.

I've heard Revell's unused score for 13th WARRIOR (aka EATERS OF THE DEAD) and I'd say he's quite versatile, but too in love with the electronic "post-modern" sound.
The Jerry Goldsmith score which finally was used for the film is much better,
muscular, and thematically in line with the movie. Revell's is too modern for a movie about 9th century Vikings. Bottom line -- his sound works best for slick, contemporary or futuristic thrillers, and not much else.
